Registration for the Department of Leisure Services 2009 Youth Sports

Registration for the Department of Leisure Services 2009 Youth Football and Youth Cheerleading Program for boys and girls ages 9-12 and Youth Soccer Program for boys and girls ages 6-18 will be held Monday - Friday, July 13-17 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm and Saturday, July 18 from 9:00 - 12:00 noon at all City of Dothan Recreation Centers. You may contact the recreation center in your recreation region or call Roy Kitts at 615-3700 for more information.

Dothan Leisure Services announces a free football coach's clinic on Friday, July 24th

at Westgate Recreation Center. Instruction will be provided by former Northview High School and Early County football coach Harry Wayne Parrish along with other area high school football coaches. There will be two sessions, 12 noon-2:30 p.m. for coaches that will be assisting with the player clinic on July 25th. The second session will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will be valuable in teaching techniques and systems to football coaches. Supper will be provided, but you must RSVP Roy Kitts at 615-3700 by July 20th if you plan to attend.

Cheerleader Sponsors are needed for Mite and Midget Leagues

The Dothan Department of Leisure Services is now taking applications for Cheerleader Sponsors. Sponsors are needed for Mite and Midget Leagues. Soccer Coaches are needed for Boys and Girls Leagues ages 6-18

Wiregrass Youth Football Clinic

Dothan Leisure Services will sponsor the Wiregrass Youth Football Clinic Saturday, July 25th at Rip Hewes Stadium. Cost will be $15 per player. Each player will receive a T-shirt and three hours of fundamental football instruction from the area's top high school coaches. Camp for players ages 7-9 will be from 8:00 until 11:00 a.m. Camp for players ages 10-13 will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Register in advance July 13-17, Mon-Fri 3:30-6:00pm and Sat., July 18 9:00am-12:00pm, @ your local Recreation Center. Tiger Baseball Clinic

Dothan Leisure Services will be sponsoring a Tiger Baseball Clinic for upcoming grades 4th-7th  Monday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 21st from 9:00 a.m. until noon each day at Doug Tew Park.  Clinic will focus on hitting, fielding, catching, and base running skills.  Registration begins Monday, June 15th  from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Doug Tew Recreation Center.  The cost for registration will be $35 per child.  Late registration on Monday June 8th will cost $45.  Please call 615-3720 for more information.

Dothan Ultimate Discers 
Dothan Leisure Services and the Dothan Ultimate Discers (DUDS) are continuing the Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee Fun League from June 13th through August 27th.  Games will be played on Optimist Field on Sundays and Thursdays at Westgate Park from 7 to 9 pm.  There are no fees to play and there are no deadlines to register, just show up any night we are playing.  Everyone from ages 10 to 100 is welcome and no prior experience is required.  If you like to run and throw a frisbee this game is for you.
